Cutting template for making your own mouth tapes
OverviewTapes to close the mouth, especially during sleep, come in all shapes and sizes. Some close the mouth completely, such as Micropore and Lip tape. Others have an opening in the middle, so that the plaster can be stuck around the lips. Myotape is an example of such an 'open' mouth plaster. These are ready-made tapes, which can be applied immediately. The disadvantage is that the Myotape plasters are relatively expensive and are no longer available in a hypoallergenic version that is suitable for sensitive skin.
An alternative is to cut the plasters yourself from a roll of CureTape (5 cm wide). OMFT.info has made cutting templates especially for this. These are used to draw the contours for open mouth plasters on the CureTape, after which they can be cut out and used.
The cutting template is available in three sizes, corresponding to the dimensions of Myotape:
- Small, for children from 4 to 16 years old (the opening in the middle is 33 mm wide).
- Medium, from 16 years old and for adults with a small mouth (the opening in the middle is 37 mm wide).
- Large, for adults (the opening in the middle is 40 mm wide).
By making your own mouth tape in this way with the cutting template and CureTape, more possibilities arise. For example, you can choose the normal CureTape or the sensitive variant for sensitive skin. In addition to these skin-coloured versions, you can also choose a colourful tape with striking designs such as tiger print or Scottish plaid. A roll of CureTape can yield approximately 75 large tapes, 80 medium tapes or 90 small tapes.
The cutting template is made of sturdy polystyrene and can therefore be used over and over again.
The cutting template can be ordered per size or as a set of three (small, medium and large) with a € 0.50 discount.
