Myospots
OverviewMyospots are used to train the correct tongue position so that nasal breathing takes place and jaws and teeth can develop healthily. Myospots are small round pads, made of biodegradable natural polymers that are safe for use in the mouth. They easily stick to the palate. A flavored myospot at the top of the mouth invites the tip of the tongue to touch it, until it dissolves. This is a good training method to get the tongue in the right position. A correct tongue position results in correct breathing: through the nose instead of through the mouth.
Per client it can be determined how often and for how long myospots should be used to become aware of the correct tongue tip position and to learn the correct tongue placement. Usually once a day is practiced with a myospot, which then lasts about one hour. This video shows how they are used. Store the myospots in a shady place that does not exceed 30 ˚C.
The myospots are available in strawberry, blueberry and banana flavours. When ordering 6 jars at the same time, the price per jar is 2 euro cheaper: your benefit is € 12. When ordering 12 jars, the price per jar is 4 euros cheaper: your benefit is € 48. Your order of 6 or 12 jars can consist of different flavours: strawberry, blueberry and banana.
Importance of nose breathing
A correct tongue placement and nose breathing is important from different perspectives. During nasal breathing, the tongue can remain in the correct position against the roof of the mouth, stimulating normal growth and development of the upper jaw. When breathing through the mouth, the tongue moves down and forward. The pressure of the cheeks also increases. Mouth breathing in this way eventually leads to a narrow and high palate. The upper dental arch is given a V-shape instead of the normal U-shape, leaving no room for the teeth to line up neatly. Incorrect swallowing also develops, in which the tongue presses against the front teeth as you swallow and those teeth come forward. That leads to an open bite.
Nose breathing is also healthier than breathing through the mouth, because it filters and moisturizes the air you breathe and the oxygen uptake is higher. If you do not breathe through the nose but through the mouth while sleeping, you will often start to snore. Since the tongue is then low, it can fall back and partially or completely block the airways, resulting in sleep apnea.
The myospots are an effective tool to learn the correct tongue position, resulting in nasal breathing. To (further) automate that correct tongue position throughout the day and to make nose breathing a regular habit, the Re-mind is a useful instrument.
Additional instructions

Can I eat and drink while the spot is in?
After about 10 minutes of the application of the spot, it becomes tightly fixed to the palate. Drinking after that point is no problem, but chewing food can result in having the spot falling off.
How many myospots should I use daily and for how long?
It is recommended to extend the tongue exercise over a period of at least 10 weeks. In the first week you can start with just one spot daily to get used to the exercise. Then increase it to two spots (two exercise sessions) in week 2. Then from the beginning of week 3 till the end of the exercise period use three spots daily (three exercise sessions every day).
The tongue is a muscle and like all other muscles it needs to exercise regularly to maintain strength and preserve the tongue elevation habit. So after the initial training period it is advised to keep exercising a few times a week.
What if the spot does not adhere well to the roof of my mouth?
Myospots are made of materials that absorb moisture quickly from the surroundings. Therefore it sticks easily to wet surfaces. If the roof of the mouth is too dry, the spot will not adhere easily. If you find it difficult to adhere the spot to the palate, please try the following: take a sip of water before using the spot, and moist the roof of your mouth with the tip of the tongue for a few seconds. Then apply the myospot.
What should I do if I swallow a myospot?
Myospots are safe to consume, but swallowing them whole can cause discomfort as they can stick. Then try to eat. This can loosen the myospot and push it through to the stomach.
What are myospots made from?
Myospots are made of safe, natural ingredients. The main ingredients in myospots are algae agar, cellulose gum and xanthan gum. In addition, there are small concentrations of the following: stevia (sweetener), natural fruit flavour (banana, blueberry or strawberry) and natural preservative.
Do myospots contain sugar?
No there are no sugars in myospots. The sweetener used is stevia (is a safe low calorie natural substitute for sugar).
I have multiple allergies. Are myospots suitable for me?

Are myospots suitable for vegans?
Myospots do not contain animal derived products in their composition. Therefore, they are suitable for vegans as well as Halal and Kosher product users.
